Windows 7 Requires Global Readiness for Sign-off

Internet is buzzing that Microsoft is already done with the Windows 7 development, code freeze has been implemented and the build release is already sent to manufacturers.

Microsoft apparently is correcting these reports and Microsoft Communications Manager Brandon LeBlanc issued an official status update on where they are on the build.

According to him Windows 7 build is already close but they haven't signed off on the operating system. He emphasizes that they are signing-off on Windows 7 when they are already ready and in a previous statement they were targeting the 2nd half of July for the RTM version.

Brandon goes on saying that they are doing a lot of work on the global readiness of the operating system wherein testing needs to be done and signed-off on all required languages. Brandon calls this status of Windows 7 as "global readiness" with their partners.

The Windows communication manager says that people shouldn't believe everything they read on the internet except his post.

Milo's point of view:

I am surprised that Microsoft is threading cautiously on this. During the pre-Windows 7 era reports were blowing out of proportion and Microsoft was either silent or kept on promising about their finish date for Windows Vista.

Today, Microsoft is taking a back seat and going as far as correcting aggressive reports on the status of the operating system.

The software giant has come to a point that they need to control their aggressiveness, stay low key and announce the readiness of the operating system when they are all done. It sounds more of a German trait that an American culture.

I still remember the old cliché, Germans lock themselves up in the garage for 5 years and develop a great product, when they are ready they go out and announce their release. Americans on the other hand, make a public statement, go back to the garage and build the product.
