Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Removed from Windows Server 2008

I can’t understand why Microsoft is removing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 from future releases of Windows Server 2008.

Prior releases of Windows Server 2008 had WSS 3.0 installed on it; but starting with candidate 1 of Windows Server 2008, Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 would no longer be included in the package.

The Tale of the 2 Million Leopard Sales vs 88 Million Strong Windows Vista Shipments

There is a lot of buzz on the 2 million sales generated by Apple on their Leopard release and there isn’t a lot of positive notes when Microsoft sold 20 million Windows Vista licenses in the first month, 40 million copies in the first 100 days, 60 million copies in July and now 88 million copies.

It is funny how a lot of reports says that Microsoft sales is declining, its incompatability issues have made people wary of upgrading or buying Windows Vista and so on and so forth. Now, with only a pathetic 2 million Leopard sales, media is saying that it is going to outsell Windows Vista with a staggering margin?

Microsoft Download on Cumulative update rollup for USB core components in Windows Vista

This latest update from Microsoft should fix a lot of USB problems and issues. While I could not find my favorite—“cannot remove drive…” even if I have do not have any opened or running files in it, I still welcome this update with open arms.

Important Dates to Remember for Windows XP

For people who still insist in using Windows XP, these are the most important dates you need to know:

Windows XP SKUs, available until June 30, 2008.

Windows XP Starter Edition, available until June 30, 2010.

Windows XP for OEMs, available until January 31, 2009.

Windows XP support from Microsoft, until April, 2014.

The best news so far is the extension of Microsoft’s support of Windows XP until 2014.

Facts on Windows Vista Service Pack Beta 1 Release

Facts you ought to know when installing Windows Vista Service Pack beta 1.

1. Microsoft reports that installation is between 30 – 60 minutes.
2. The first 15 – 30 minutes is when the service pack prepares installation, during this time you can still use your computer freely.
3. The service pack would required to restart your machine for three times.
4. The installation of the Vista service pack requires a minimum of 7 GB of free hard disk. After installation portion of the 7 GB would be given back.
5. An annoying fact when installing Windows Vista Service Pack is its inability to tell you how many minutes is left before completing installation. The installation also doesn’t provide a progress status.

Tiny—that is what Windows Vista Ultimate Extras are about. Microsoft is pouring water on fire by saying they are releasing an app for the extras, they have also cleared that Microsoft isn’t dishing the extras as misunderstood on the new Vista Ultimate page.
