SharePoint 2010 is coming straight ahead and we only need to wait a little over two months before the next version of SharePoint officially comes out.

It looks like the Palm Pre webOS is coming sooner than we think as Palm’s UK website has now changed it’s homepage to show the Palm webOS.

With the release of Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5, Palm is definitely speeding things up.

Palm CEO Ed Colligan told Peter Kafka "Why would we do that when we have a significantly better product?" referring to whether Palm Pre would cost less than iPhone valued at $199 USD.

Apparently, he is confident of their product. Why not? Aside from being a Palm fan myself, the device and operating system looks solid.

Palm used to be the king of productivity devices but poor business decisions have allowed competitors like Apple to takeover. Technology and reach of applications, I would go with Palm.

As I have written about Palm Web OS, the operating system was demoed using their upcoming device called Palm Pre (see image below).

According to reports, the device would be released in the second half of 2009 and based on initial user testing, the device is easy to use and fun. The touch-screen device combined with the operating system allows for smooth transition and movement. The price is said to be higher than iPhone’s $199 USD because Palm contends they have a significantly better product, I agree.

I have written about Palm Nova OS and the reasons why I like Palm from the small number of non-Microsoft technologies I used. In CES, Palm have officially announced that their operating system is called Palm Web OS.

From initial reports, the Palm Web OS looks impressive which aims to bring enterprise and entertainment in one device.

As their official announcement goes: 

Palm WebOS, Palm’s next generation operating system, integrates the power of a window-based operating system with the simplicity of a browser. The user experience is designed around multitasking, and makes it easy to run background applications, switch between applications in a single step, and handle interruptions and events without losing context. Using WebOS, you’ll be able to develop fast (and beautiful) applications.

The operating system was demoed using their upcoming device called Palm Pre.

As we have written about the Palm Web OS, they have written on their site their Palm Mojo Application Framework which allow developers to write application on their new operating system and the Mojo framework use CSS, Javascript and HTML programming.

The mojo framework allows you to (from Palm site):

• Build applications with gesture-based navigation, transitions, and scrolling
• Use the WebOS notification system to alert users without interrupting them
• Leverage the local storage capabilities of HTML5 so that data is available even when users are offline
• Use a JSON-based message bus to tap into a wide range of device services, including contacts, calendars, and location
