Digital Collaboration Guide, a SharePoint Architect's view

A week ago the Emerging Business Team at the Microsoft Silicon Valley Campus hosted a SharePoint 2010 competition titled “SharePoint 2010 SocialFest” where seven startup companies were given one week to develop an application on SharePoint 2010. During the week long event activities such as talks from developers, SharePoint engineering and product management teams, and venture investors were done. By Friday, the contestants presented their applications to a panel of judges which included Charles Schwab & Co. and McKesson. The winner of the competition was Huddle, which was basically synching up external team sites.

The rest of the application developed are the following:

1. Calinda MindUP – presents email interactions into visual maps which help create conversations between groups enhancing collaboration.

2. Confer – is simply twitter on SharePoint 2010 for both internal and external employees.

3. Cortex Intelligence – is an intelligent RSS tools which is presented via webparts fpr discussion, sharing, etc.

4. Leverage Software – makes your email thread into on-deman social workspace for sharing with others.

The homepage of Google is showing the list of celebrities that have Google iPages.

Google is very sensitive on additional clutter on their site, but when you are showing hottest celebrities who are using your services, is a different story.

Ashton seems on a roll, he is an avid fan of Web 2.0 technologies and is one of the hottest celebrities on Twitter. Today he is on iPages, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he creates a marketing buzz on Youtube given that he is the model for Nikon’s D90.

I just noticed the icon change when I hit refresh on the Google page. Did they really change their icon across all servers? It doesn’t look “G” to me. But I sure hope, there’s nothing wrong with my IE or PC.

Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page lost $8.5 billion from their November net worth of $21 billion when their Google stock is at its peak. Amidst declining revenue and their stock trading below $500, Google stock has lost 2 percent dropping the value to $450.78 from its previous $460.56

Both founders has received a 2007 annual salary of $1 and a bonus amounting to $1,723. Sergey and Larry may rethink their $1,724 total salary as their stocks continue to decline.
