SharePoint 2007 Becomes a Standard for Enterprises
A study conducted by Network World results in SharePoint being the de-facto standard for enterprises. More than half of organizations who have deployed Exchange Server are already using SharePoint and additional 12% of them would be deploying SharePoint in the next year.
Most of the current SharePoint deployments today are not being used for mission critical systems and less than 20% play an important role in the organization. This should change as enterprises learn how to maximize the power of SharePoint and make it the central platform for their mission critical applications. SharePoint should be used as a portal that would collaborate every business process in the enterprise.
Only one third of the SharePoint deployments have policies in place that guide organizations in the usage of SharePoint.
Anyways, as SharePoint sales have reached almost 1 billion USD; we are only going to see this platform mature in the enterprise.
