Palm Nova OS
If you still remember Palm, they are still alive especially after a $100 million dollar infusion last December. I admit I use Tungsten T3 and have been frustrated when they stopped producing these devices. I live and breathe Microsoft at the very core; and T3 is one of the very few non-Microsoft products I patronize.
I had my first two smartphones with Microsoft Windows Mobile but I felt I had another gadget/device that needs more care and love than I can provide. You know, the frequent tune-ups, restarts, performance maintenance and stuff. All I want is a simple but effective tool that can synch my schedule, act as notepad, maintain tasks, contacts, and lists. I want it to be snappy, hard-resets in a blink of an eye, doesn’t munch much on battery power. I am surrounded with a lot of complex technologies that the last thing I need is a pamper intensive personal device and as such my fondness for Palm.
Given that the company has slowly created devices with Windows mobile loaded on it, their previous flagship Palm OS slowly lost it’s brand.
Recently, Palm has hinted that they are unveiling their new operating system named Palm Nova OS whose official public revelation would be during Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on Thursday together with a new device that goes with it. The new OS is going to be based in Linux, oh no. Nonetheless, I still like the Palm concept and am interested to their official announcement.
I think they are now moving into a different arena and abandoning their old gadgets and platform. Just yesterday I was surprised to find their mind-blowing sale at Palm store where they sold keyboards from 70USD down to 29 USD. I did order, however, I received a mail that my order cannot be completed. Was it just meant to generate traffic to their site as they unveil their new operating system? Let’s see.
