Oracle Fusion Middleware

I recently read a product named Oracle Fusion Middleware. It says it is able to enhance and get more from your SharePoint implementation by aggregating access to content, securing corporate intellectual property, complying with regulatory or legal policies. It seems this product has been around for quite sometime but I have never heard this being used by any of our clients or proposed by any of my SharePoint colleagues. Judging by the description, SharePoint does these things through configuration; but for robust requirements, there is always Visual Studio to complete the functionalities.

Key Takeaway

Implementing SharePoint already requires a lot of resources from infrastructure, time and people, etc. and adding another heavyweight application at the middleware such as Oracle requires more of these things. It can be argued that you can get more from SharePoint by using Oracle Fusion Middleware; but I would argue to spend the money to your SharePoint resources instead. By building the skills and capability of your SharePoint people in the organization, you get more from your SharePoint implementation.
