Don’ t think about the ddr 3 ram. Don’t worry about the reported Windows Vista 3GB ram bug either wherein only Windows Vista 64bit can run ram above the 3GB threshold (4Gb of Ram on Windows 32bit will only show 3GB ram); instead, worry about getting 8GB of ReadyBoost as soon as possible to make your Windows Vista rock.
DDR3 ram may be faster than ReadyBoost overall but for non-sequential quick information access, ReadyBoost would definitely make your experience so much better.
Microsoft is releasing (Nick White from Update news) on June 22 a Windows Vista update which enables Windows Vista to fully utilize 8GB or more of SD cards which could all be used for ReadyBoost. Also, improvements in SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) and SDIO (Secure Digital Input-Output) are included in the update as well.
Sandisk and Microsoft previously promised a partnership on building the next generation of SD cards and hopefully this coming update may allow these cards to run perfectly; though a Sandisk Vista patch could easily be released.
Nevertheless, this update would make vendors develop higher capacity SD cards for the growing market of Windows Vista.
