Linus and Open Source Need to Stop Speculating and Start Re-thinking their Open Source Model

Microsoft is going after Linux with a series of patent violations which Microsoft apparently own. Linus Torvalds, creator of Linux has this to say: Linus goes on to say that “it’s certainly a lot more likely that Microsoft violates patents than Linux does.” Linus says that if the source code for Windows was reviewed in the same way that Linux has, Microsoft would also be facing patent violations.

It doesn't matter what Linus or open source folks are saying, the end result leans positively on the side of the organization that has patent rights, esources and batallion of lawyers to push the other side. Sorry for open source since they do not have the resources to compete against the behemoth Microsoft. Instead of them speculating that Microsoft may have violated patents rights, they should start showing some muscle. And muscle can only be gained when they start re-thinking their open source model.
