Life Without Google
Ibnlive.com reported on the poll conducted by Cnn about the history of the World Wide Web.
A portion of the story read:
an
California: The search engine Google is the most significant development in the 15-year history of the World Wide Web, according to a poll of CNN.com users.
I did not have the chance to vote for Google in the poll but still Google tops my list. What would life be without Google?
My teammates and I were discussing the tremendous amount of technical issues we had to resolve in our current Share Point project. As we were bouncing back ideas one of my team members blurted out—“Let’s just let Google solve these things for us.”
A realization quickly popped off my head. As the project was reaching the middle of the stabilization phase I came to look back where we were 3 months ago when we did not know anything about Share Point.
On this Share Point project we were asked to develop an extremely complex system under a very aggressive timeline. Almost every question we had was resolved by Google or by Google Groups (which was strongly advised by our architects).
Yes, Google was not only a search engine but a problem solver. A way of life currently imbedded on all age groups, across different profession in every imaginable way.
Going back to our group discussion; I answered back my teammate by saying—“Do you imagine Life without Google?” Everybody gave out a loud laugh as if telling me that was the most stupid question they have heard.
None of us could imagine how we would have survived the barrage of issues without Google helping us along the way.
Would you?
