Is Windows Vista Saving Microsoft’s Search Business?
Windows Vista is one of the most important products which could help boost Microsoft’s losing battle in search engine wars.
After spending $1.1 billion in research and development on MSN their search engine market share continue to drop as was reported by comScore Networks. The have only managed to get 10.5 percent market share last month from their previous 11 percent score last November. Google on the other hand was able to increase their market share by .4 percent to a total of 47.3 percent. Google’s 7.1 percent increase from November 2005 to November 2006 dampens any hope Microsoft has on winning the search engine share.
The only bright hope Microsoft has is the release of Windows Vista to the consumer market later this month. The popularity and success of Windows Vista could provide enough leverage to gain market share in Microsoft’s Live and MSN sites which could add to their search engine market share battle.
It was reported that Windows Vista which was released to the business industry last year has surpassed Microsoft’s predicted sales target and are looking to have strong sales in the coming years.
Is Windows Vista Saving Microsoft’s Search Business?
It is not definite that the success of Windows Vista could help their internet business; but it is sure that it’s failure could tremendously affect their search engine shares which could lead to Microsoft raising a white flag in that area.
