Is Windows Vista Ready or Microsoft Plans to Acquire Amazon as their SVP Leaves in Good Terms

It looks like Windows Vista is ready to roll-out as Microsoft has a good parting relationship with Brian Valentine, their Senior Vice-President of Windows Core Operating System Division. He has tendered his resignation and is set to join an executive position with Amazon as a Senior Vice-President, but details of his responsibility and role has not been released.

The final version of Windows Vista for business users is set for release on November, and for its consumer market on January 2007, which leads us to believe that Brian is done and ready for another task at hand. Jon DeVaan will take full responsibility as a Senior Vice-President after sharing the post with Valentine for the last six months and shall continuously report to Windows Core Operating System Division Co-Presidents Kevin Johnson and Jim Allchin.

Why would Amazon hire a non linux executive?

Amazon is a Linux based web platform and the hiring of Brian Valentine could indicate the move of Amazon into a Microsoft based platform or probably Brian is simply a very good technology leader to ignore; though I would think Amazon is bringing in Microsoft technologies more into their organization, and Brian’s transfer to a non Microsoft focus after so many years in that space doesn’t make sense. Are we seeing a possible acquisition of Amazon by Microsoft in the future and has planted Brian as a preliminary measure to prepare the company for acquisition?

The move of Brian amidst the growing impatience on the Vista launch has two angles:

1. Windows Vista is ready and Brian Valentine can afford to move out without a strained relationship with Microsoft for having done his job until the end.

2. Microsoft sent Brian packing to build a Microsoft mindset within the organization hoping to make an acquisition sensible.

The development of Microsoft’s Windows Vista and Amazon’s new recruit is an interest we shall follow.
