Bill Gate’s Email

If there’s anybody in the world who knows how to rise above empires and overtake them aside from Bill Gates; it is definitely the people we refer to as “Google Guys”. Bill knows this way too well not to allow him to take for granted the strength, focus, business model and a lot more assets than he might care to admit that may crush his company to the ground.

Below is the leaked email taken from Dave Winer’s blog.

From: Bill Gates

Subject: Internet Software Services

Microsoft has always had to anticipate changes in the software business and seize the opportunity to lead.

Ten years ago this December, I wrote a memo entitled The Internet Tidal Wave which described how the internet was going to forever change the landscape of computing. Our products could either prepare for the magnitude of what was to come or risk being swept away. We dedicated ourselves to innovating rapidly and lead the way much to the surprise of many industry pundits who questioned our ability to reinvent our approach of delivering software breakthroughs.

Life Without Google

Ibnlive.com reported on the poll conducted by Cnn about the history of the World Wide Web.

A portion of the story read:

California: The search engine Google is the most significant development in the 15-year history of the World Wide Web, according to a poll of CNN.com users.

I did not have the chance to vote for Google in the poll but still Google tops my list. What would life be without Google?

My teammates and I were discussing the tremendous amount of technical issues we had to resolve in our current Share Point project. As we were bouncing back ideas one of my team members blurted out—“Let’s just let Google solve these things for us.”

Google’s Page Vision of Standardization

News.com has a story on the keynote of Google’s Larry Page at the Consumer Electronics Show on Friday.

A portion of the article discusses on Page’s vision—

Earlier, Page discussed what he said was a “personal passion of his”—the standardization of basic computer products. Why can’t a USB port be used to monitor a front door, and a Bluetooth cell phone be used to start a car, he asked. Any wire should be able to be used for multiple purposes, such as running software, charging devices and running other devices, and adapters should work with everything, he said.

Bill Gates is definitely hearing the same words he said a couple of decades ago when he was bent on standardization. His philosophy that software should run from multiple platforms across different devices on a single Dos operating system gave them unmatched success and advantage on all its competitors.

Google’s Defiance is Customer’s Agreement

Migrated from October 24, 2005 post from a different blog.

Google has defied the U.S. Department of Justice from handing down information on the kind of searches being made by its users. Yahoo and Microsoft on the other hand have diligently complied with the order. Why not? Both the two companies are way below the dominance of Google. I see no reason for them to decline but a strategic advantage to pressure Google to comply. This is would allow them to learn more of the kind of users Google has.

Google’s defiance on the other hand has triggered a subpoena from the U.S. DOJ. An act that no investor would be comfortable to know.

On the contrary; this defiance from a user’s perspective brings comfort that their search engine provider is protecting them. A sign that could make you love the company even more. A new level of loyalty will arise from their millions of followers.

I believe Google will somehow comply on this requirement after a thorough deliberation and negotiation emphasizing to the world how much value they put in their customer’s privacy and protection.

Google our Knight in shining Armor.
